The Dower House is recognized as the oldest home in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The property’s history dates back to a 5,000-acre lot originally acquired from William Penn by Richard Thomas. In 1715, John and Mary Wall purchased 150 acres of this land from Richard Thomas's son, establishing the site where Dower House still stands today.
